Marina Rodriguez extended her winning streak with a five-round unanimous decision victory over fellow strawweight contender Mackenzie Dern in their UFC Fight Night main event bout in Las Vegas.
Dern had her best moments in the second round, during which she had 4:21 of ground control as the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt looked for submissions, however Rodriguez’s pace and striking proved too much for Dern over the course of the 25-minute bout.
Rodriguez, who out-landed Dern 144-49 in significant strikes, improved to 15-1-2 as a pro. Her lone loss was a split decision to inaugural 115-pound champion Carla Esparza in the summer of 2020. Saturday’s main-event win should see her leapfrog Dern and enter the top five in the strawweight rankings.
