Molly McCann retires after UFC London loss

Molly McCann announced her retirement from mixed martial arts Saturday following a first-round loss at UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs. Brady.

The popular English fighter McCann was submitted by Brazil’s Alexia Thainara in main card action at The O2 Arena in London.

McCann debuted in the UFC in 2018 as a former Cage Warriors flyweight champion. In nine years with the organization she amassed a 7-7 record that included back-to-back highlight-reel spinning elbow knockout wins in 2022.

The 34-year-old from Liverpool was originally scheduled to face Istela Nunes at Saturday’s the event but Nunes was replaced by Thainara last week. McCann ends her career losing four of her past five, getting finished in three of them.
