• One fighter no-shows, one fighter off target at UFC Fight Night weigh-in

It wasn’t smooth sailing Friday at the official weigh-in for UFC Fight Night: Emmett vs. Murphy.

A featured preliminary bout was removed from Saturday’s card after one athlete failed to step on the scale, while another fighter missed weight by a whopping 3.5 pounds.

Brazilian bantamweight Daniel Santos did not weigh-in ahead of a scheduled bout with veteran Davey Grant due to medical reasons and that fight was removed from the card.

Santos, 30, has now had his past three matchups fall apart. His last appearance was a June 2023 win over Johnny Munoz Jr., but subsequent scheduled bouts with Daniel Marcos, Said Nurmagomedov and now Grant have each failed to come to fruition.

The 39-year-old Grant had already successfully made weight at 135.5 pounds before the matchup was pulled.

Cortavious Romious missed the non-title bantamweight limit by 3.5 pounds ahead of his matchup with Chang Ho Lee, weighing 139.5 pounds Friday.

That fight will proceed at a catchweight and Romious will be fined 20 per cent of his purse.

The card underwent a significant change on the eve of the weigh-ins when Kennedy Nzechukwu was removed from his heavyweight matchup with Martin Buday due to injury.

Buday will remain on the card and face UFC newcomer Uran Satybaldiev, a 9-0 fighter and the recently-crowned LFA light-heavyweight champion.

There will be a noticeable weight discrepancy in that one with Buday weighing the maximum 266 pounds for a non-title heavyweight bout, while Satybaldiev, who would normally weigh in at 205 pounds, stepped on the scale at 222.5 pounds ahead of his UFC debut.
