Oliveira (29-8) hasn’t lost in three years and has finished his past seven opponents, five by submission and two by knockout or TKO. The 31-year-old most recently fought in March when he submitted Kevin Lee with a guillotine choke.
UFC 256 is scheduled to take place Dec. 12 at the UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas.
Ferguson is currently the No. 3 contender in the UFC lightweight division; Oliveira is ranked No. 6.
