Some big names are heading north of the border for the long-awaited fight card in Montreal.
Headlining UFC 315 on May 10 will be a massive welterweight title fight between reigning champ Belal Muhammad and the fourth-ranked contender Jack Della Maddalena, UFC president Dana White announced on Instagram Live on Wednesday night.
As an additional treat, Montreal fans will get a co-main event featuring women's flyweight champ Valentina Shevchenko going for a title defence against rising French contender Manon Fiorot.
Muhammad, who won the belt from Leon Edwards in July 2024, has yet to defend his title after cancelling a fight against Shavkat Rakhmonov, the No. 2 contender on the ladder, after dealing with a bone infection in his foot.
The 36-year-old is on a 10-fight win streak with eight coming the way of the scorer's table — though all were unanimous victories. He has a 24-3 record in pro MMA and is 15-3 in UFC.
Della Maddalena, meanwhile, is undefeated since joining UFC in 2022 and has earned five performance bonuses in his short stint in the promotion. Overall, the Australian is 17-2 in pro MMA and has had a meteoric rise up the welterweight ranks.
On the women's side, Shevchenko is coming off a win over Alexa Grasso in September 2024 that saw her snatch back her belt. She lost the title in 2023 after winning her seven previous title defences.
Fiorot, 35, has been dominant since joining UFC in 2021, fighting to a perfect 7-0 record with punctuating wins over Rose Namajunas and most recently Erin Blachfield in March 2024.
White added that a bout between Gilbert Burns and Michael Morales would be on the card, joining the previously announced Alexa Grasso vs. Natalia Silva and Marc-Andre Barriault vs. Bruno Silva showdowns.
UFC 315 is the first UFC event hosted in Montreal since UFC 186 in 2015. This will mark the eighth UFC event at the venue since 2008.
