AARON'S PICKS
Cage Lock: Dumas vs. Johnson ends inside the distance -800
Favourite: Norma Dumont -180
Underdog: Cody Durden +240
Dart Throw: Ariane Carnelossi by decision +400
Dumas and Johnson are both kill or be killed fighters and I expect that their fight finds a finish at some point. … Dumont is more well-rounded than Vieira and has a number of advantages. I believe that she beats Vieira more often than not. … Alan Nascimento is very takedown-dependent when it comes to his winning conditions and Durden will be stingy in that department. I think that Durden will keep this fight on the feet and outpoint Nascimento. … Carnelossi has a high finishing rate, but I don’t expect her to try and grapple with the dangerous Alencar. On the feet, she has better technique and power, which, in my estimation, makes her best winning condition a decision.
DAN'S PICKS
Cage Lock: Donte Johnson -350
Favourite: Allan Nascimento -250
Underdog: Ketlen Vieira +150
Dart Throw: Kevin Christian by submission +600
Donte Johnson was knocking out the competition on the regional scene prior to joining UFC. A debut in the organization usually means a step up in competition, but with everything going on behind the scenes with Sedriques Dumas this is a very favourable matchup for the newcomer. Johnson likely wins inside the distance, but -350 for the outright win is as safe as it gets on this tricky card. … It could be a good night for Brazilian mixed martial artists. I think Allan Nascimento grinds out a win over Cody Durden with his relentless pursuit of a submission. Ketlen Vieira in the underdog role is always a great play regardless of the opponent. Her fight with Norma Dumont likely goes the distance and Vieira likely wins at least one round which means if the judges give her a second Vieira gets back in the win column after two straight losses. Kevin Christian proved on Dana White’s Contender Series that the hype around his submission game is real. Billy Elekana is a talent fighter who has shown a tendency to disregard his opponent’s strengths to execute his gameplan. This was evident when he was KO’d by Bogdan Guskov at UFC 311. If he enters this fight with that type of reckless abandon, Christian could possibly snatch a limb and finish this fight.
MIKE'S PICKS
Cage Lock: Vieira vs. Dumont goes the distance -385
Favourite: Steve Garcia -133
Underdog: Jeremiah Wells +120
Dart Throw: Phil Rowe KO/TKO/DQ +400
I’ve been more impressed with Garcia’s current run than Onama's but this should be a tightly contested main event. Garcia is more aggressive and has more power so, just like the oddsmakers have, I give Garcia the slight edge here. … Norma Dumont has gone the distance in her last nine fights and Ketlen Vieira has seen the scorecards in eight straight, so in theory this is relatively a safe bet (first-round finish upcoming!). … The Rowe vs. Ko bout should be a fun one that I view as a dog or pass kind of matchup. If Rowe can keep it standing his length and reach advantage will come into play. … Also going with old man Wells who celebrated his 39th birthday earlier this week to humble Gorimbo who’s been talking a lot in the leadup to this 170-pound matchup.
