Fighters, fans react to McGregor's bizarre leg injury stoppage vs. Poirier

Dustin Poirier defeated Conor McGregor via injury TKO after McGregor broke his ankle to end it. Poirier has now beat McGregor two out of the last three times.

It was the ending nobody could have predicted as the highly anticipated fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier was over after just one round as McGregor suffered a leg injury forcing a doctor’s stoppage.

Heading into the fight, McGregor said he expected Poirier to be taken out on a stretcher. In the end, it was the Irishman that had to be helped out of the arena.

While the fight was short-lived, there was no shortage of excitement as both McGregor and Poirier didn’t hold back in the first round. Of course, the ending is what generated the most buzz as many weighed in on social media after the stoppage:

I had no idea Poirier's hate of McGregor had detonated to that point. I thought he was mostly amused by McGregor's pre-fight trash talk. NOT ANYMORE. This approached Khabib-like hate. Poirier expressed zero respect for McGregor.
