Danyelle Wolf made her professional mixed martial arts debut on Dana White’s Contender Series and the amateur boxing champion won a unanimous decision over the previously undefeated Taneisha Tennant.
Wolf’s victory earned her a UFC contract, the organization’s president Dana White announced Tuesday night.
“I’m gonna give her a shot,” White told reporters at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas following the event. “I mean, she’s got like 43 professional fights. It’s not like she can’t fight. It’s not like she’s never been there before. … Listen, I’ve given people with much less skill shots, so I think she deserves a shot.”
Wolf, 37, competes in the women’s featherweight division, which is ruled by champion Amanda Nunes and always in search of fresh talent.
Speaking of fresh talent, middleweight Jordan Williams earned a first-round knockout of Gregory Rodriguez while Collin Anglin beat Muhammadjon Naimov over three rounds in an exciting featherweight tilt.
Williams and Anglin both were awarded UFC contracts,
Also on the card, Michael Lombardo and Kyle Driscoll won unanimous decisions over Korey Kuppe and Dinis Paiva, respectively, but didn’t walk away with UFC deals.
