Kayla Harrison good on second cut to 135 pounds; all UFC 307 fighters on weight

It was smooth sailing Friday at the official UFC 307 weigh-ins with all fighters scheduled to compete Saturday in Salt Lake City successfully making weight on their first attempt.

Two-time Olympic gold medal-winning judo star Kayla Harrison successfully hit the mark for a bantamweight contest for just the second time in her career — and second time this year — as the former PFL lightweight champion is set to face Ketlen Viera in a featured main card bout.

Prior to her debut in the 135-pound division in April, Harrison won her Olympic gold medals competing at 172 pounds and had been fighting in the 155-pound division in mixed martial arts before signing with the UFC and deciding to make the drastic weight cut to attempt to win UFC gold.

The organization folded its women’s featherweight division after Amanda Nunes retired in 2023, otherwise Harrison would’ve likely competed at 145 pounds if she were permitted. Harrison is likely to earn a title shot and face the winner of Saturday’s co-main event if she beats Viera like she did Holly Holm at UFC 300 earlier this year.

Current women’s 135-pound champion Raquel Pennington and Julianna Pena both came in on or under championship weight. So did light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira and his challenger Khalil Rountree Jr., who will go toe to toe in the main event.

The 24 athletes had a one-hour window during which they had to step on the scale. If any fighters had missed weight, they would’ve been given an additional hour to make their contracted weight or risk facing a fine. Fighters competing in non-title bouts were given a one-pound allowance.
