UFC Fight Night 238: Rozenstruik vs. Gaziev results

The UFC returned to its home base in Las Vegas at the APEX and while Saturday’s card lacked a head-turning matchup, the event exceeded expectations with plenty of action.

Six of the 11 fights ended by KO/TKO, one of which is an early contender for knockout of the year.

MAIN CARD

Jairzinho Rozenstruik defeats Shamil Gaziev via TKO at 5:00 of Round 4

Rozenstruik demonstrated why he’s the No. 12 heavyweight in the UFC as his lethal combination of jabs ended Gaziev’s undefeated streak in MMA and handed the Bahrainian his first loss under the promotion’s banner.

Vitor Petrino defeats Tyson Pedro via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

Petrino remains undefeated in the UFC (4-0) as the Brazilian dominated his bout against Pedro, sending the Australian into retirement on a loss and a 6-5 UFC record.

Muhammad Mokaev defeats Alex Perez via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Perez made his return to the octagon after nearly two years but was unable to pick up a statement victory. Instead, Mokaev improved his perfect UFC record and is now 6-0.

Umar Nurmagomedov defeats Bekzat Almakhan via unanimous decision (30-25, 30-26, 30-26)

Nurmagomedov remains undefeated (5-0) in the UFC after dominating newcomer Almakhan and further proving he’s a serious bantamweight contender to keep an eye on.

Steve Erceg defeats Matt Schnell via KO at 0:26 of Round 2

Erceg showed why he’s now 3-0 in the UFC. After wobbling Schnell in the first round, he ended things quickly in the second with a swift left hook for a walk-off knockout.

PRELIMINARY CARD

Eryk Anders defeats Jamie Pickett via Unanimous Decision (29-27, 29-28, 29-28)

After losing three of his last four fights, Anders got back in the win column thanks to some consistent pressure and ground control (five takedowns).

Vinicius Oliveira defeats Bernardo Sopaj via KO at 4:41 of Round 3

Oliveira, in his UFC debut, ended the contest in spectacular fashion as he used a flying knee to put Spogaj to sleep.

Aiemann Zahabi defeats Javid Basharat via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Montreal native Zahabi is now on a four-fight win streak, tied for the fourth-longest in the bantamweight division, while also putting an end to Basharat’s 3-0 start in the UFC.

Christian Leroy Duncan defeats Claudio Ribeiro via TKO at 1:57 of Round 2

Duncan made it back-to-back stoppage wins and is now 3-1 in the UFC after picking up a TKO victory on Saturday by way of vicious elbows while in full mount.

L’udovit Klein defeats AJ Cunningham via TKO at 4:36 of Round 1

Despite taking the fight on short notice, Klein came out with zero hesitation. The Slovakian threw a head kick as soon as the lightweights touched gloves and his activity never relented. Klein is now 4-0-1 since making the change to lightweight.

Loik Radzhabov defeats Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady via KO at 0:49 of Round 3

The lightweight bout was a back-and-forth affair through the first two rounds but the Tajikistani caught Al-Selwady with a combo to the jaw that sent him to the canvas and it was over. Radzhabov is now 2-1 in the UFC, winning back-to-back contests.
