Whittaker vs. Costa, Neal vs. Garry added to UFC 298 card

Two fights have been added to the card for UFC 298 in Anaheim, Calif., including the long-awaited welterweight bout between Ian Machado Garry and Geoff Neal.

The Garry-Neal fight was originally booked for UFC 292 last summer in Boston and then rescheduled to the upcoming UFC 299 in Miami. Now it will land a month earlier on UFC 298, after an illness prevented Garry from facing Vicente Luque at UFC 296.

Also added to UFC 298 is a rescheduled middleweight fight between Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa. The duo were originally set to clash last December at UFC 284 in Perth, Australia, but the fight was scrapped when contract talks between Costa and the UFC fell through.

Other UFC announcements made on Thursday include:

• A featherweight rematch between Yair Rodriguez and Brian Ortega as the co-main event (five rounds) at Fight Night 237 in Mexico City this February. Rodriguez won the first meeting in July of 2022.

• Erin Blanchfield vs. Manon Fiorot in a flyweight matchup will headline UFC Fight Night 239 in Atlantic City, N.J., on March 30.

• The UFC 300 card will include Jiri Prochazka vs. Aleksandar Rakic, Aljamain Sterling vs. Calvin Kattar in a featherweight fight and Bo Nickal vs. Cody Brundage.
