OTTAWA — University of Western Ontario coach Greg Marshall has been named head coach of the Canadian men’s senior football team.

Marshall will guide the national squad at the International Federation of American Football senior world championship next year in Stockholm.

"I am excited to be back coaching with the senior national program," Marshall said Thursday in a release. "This is a great opportunity and challenge to select and prepare a team to represent our country internationally in the world championship."

Marshall served as Canada’s offensive co-ordinator at the 2011 tournament in Austria. Canada lost to the United States in the championship game that year.

The tournament is held every four years.
