Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk was named captain of the U.S. men's national team for the 2024 World Hockey Championship on Thursday.
Tkachuk is playing in his first men's world championship for the U.S.
Brock Nelson, Seth Jones, and Zach Werenski have been named the team’s alternate captains and have a combined eight appearances between them.
“We’ve got a great leadership group, and, in the end, everyone will have to lead in their own way for us to be successful,” head coach John Hynes said in a release. “We’re excited about our team and look forward to starting play in the world championship tomorrow.”
Team USA will take on Sweden at Ostravar Arena in Czechia on Friday in the first of seven preliminary round games.
