Have yourself a night Aaliyah Edwards.
The Washington Mystics and Kingston, Ont. native had a serious breakout game on Thursday night, dominating the Chicago Sky to the tune of 23 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks on an efficient 10-for-12 from the field.
However, the Mystic wound up losing 79-71, bringing their record to a rough 0-10 on the season.
Edwards, 21, was given the starting-five nod for the fourth time in her short career and her first back-to-back start after taking the spot on June 4 against the Connecticut Sun. It's safe to say that she may never let it go again.
She was unstoppable from the floor, hitting her first eight shots and not missing until the 8:36 mark in the fourth quarter and beating fellow rookie Angel Reese at every turn.
On defence, she held the former LSU standout to 16 points but on a rough 5-for-17 from the field and swatted two of her shots. She also got a block on the Sky's other rookie Kamilla Cardoso.
She breached 20 points in the fourth quarter as the winless Mystics tried to make a comeback, hitting the mark for the first time in her career. It was also her first double-double since reaching the WNBA.
