The Los Angeles Sparks have acquired Canadian Kia Nurse and the No. 4 overall pick in this year’s WNBA draft from the Seattle Storm in exchange for a 2026 first-round pick, the teams announced Wednesday.
The 27-year-old guard played in 42 games for the Storm last season and averaged 5.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
Nurse, the younger sister of Edmonton Oilers defenceman Darnell Nurse, was drafted 10th overall by the New York Liberty in the 2018 WNBA draft.
She was named a starter in the 2019 WNBA All-Star Game and became just the third Canadian to play in the All-Star Game.
The Hamilton, Ont., native has averaged 9.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists over 161 career games with the Liberty, Storm and Phoneix Mercury.
“Kia is a versatile veteran guard who can play multiple positions and brings a toughness and physicality that will fit in perfectly with our team,” Sparks coach Curt Miller said in a statement.
