Canadian forward Conor Geekie has avoided further discipline for his hit to the head against Germany’s Samuel Schindler.

Geekie was assessed a five-minute major and ejected from Sunday’s win over Germany for a hit he made on Schindler just 11 seconds into the game at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Sweden.

The International Ice Hockey Federation’s tournament disciplinary panel announced it had reviewed the play and determined that “the penalty on the ice was warranted but considered sufficient.”

The ruling means Geekie will be available when Canada plays Czechia in the tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday.
