Among those who did make the cut for the 25-man roster were top prospects Jake Sanderson (Ottawa Senators), Cole Caufield (Montreal Canadiens), Alex Turcotte (Los Angeles Kings), Spencer Knight (Florida Panthers), Trevor Zegras (Anaheim Ducks) and Dustin Wolf (Calgary Flames).
“We had a great week of camp and we have certainly faced adversity, but we believe in these 25 players and we all have the same goal,” John Vanbiesbrouck, the team’s general manager, said in a press release.
Caufield, Knight, Wolf, Turcotte and Zegras are five of the team’s eight returnees from a U.S. squad that finished sixth at last year’s tournament.
Team USA will face Russia in its first preliminary matchup on Dec. 25 at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
