Team Canada has added WHLer Jagger Firkus to their 25-player roster at the World Junior Championship, Hockey Canada announced on Saturday.
Firkus, the Moose Jaw Warriors standout forward, was invited to Canada’s selection camp, but did not make the roster cut.
In 32 games for the Warriors this season, the Seattle Kraken prospect has 27 goals and 59 points. He leads the team in points, just ahead of fellow Team Canada teammate Brayden Yager.
Though it’s unclear who will leave Canada’s roster to make room for Firkus, assistant captain Matthew Savoie was missing at practice on Saturday, with coach Alan Letang calling his absence a maintenance day.
Canada is 2-1 in round-robin play at the tournament, and is gearing up to face Germany on Sunday after a disappointing loss to Sweden.
