Team USA began its defence of their 2021 World Junior Hockey Championship title with a 5-1 win over Germany in Group B action Tuesday night in Edmonton.
Luke Hughes, Landon Slaggert, Riley Duran, Logan Cooley and Redmond Savage scored for the U.S. who had 50 shots on goal. Kaidan Mbereko made 10 saves to get the win.
Joshua Samanski scored the only goal Germany while Nikita Quapp made 45 saves and had an assist.
