Canada's Leylah Fernandez extended her winning streak to eight matches with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus in the quarterfinals of the Jiangxi Open on Friday in Nanchang, China.
Fernandez, from Laval, Que., is coming off her first tournament title of the season at the Hong Kong Open.
Fernandez jumped up to No. 43 in the world rankings last week. Sasnovich is ranked 75th.
The Canadian will face No. 60 Katerina Siniakova of Czechia in the semis. It's a rematch of last week's Hong Kong final, won by Fernandez in three sets.
Fernandez is currently projected to move up to No. 33 in the rankings next week. She could vault into the top 30 if she wins the tournament.
