Former pro wrestler Sid Eudy, a two-time world champion in both WWE and WCW, has died at the age of 63.
He passed away after battling cancer for several years, his son Gunnar Eudy wrote in a Facebook post on Monday.
"Few performers in the history of our business have had the look, intensity and ability to connect with the audience quite like Sid," WWE chief content officer Triple H wrote on social media. "My thoughts are with Sid's family, friends and fans."
Eudy, from West Memphis, Arkansas, made his WCW debut in 1989 as Sid Vicious and joined the fabled Four Horsemen stable the following year.
He jumped to WWE, then known as WWF, in 1991 under the name Sid Justice and was a face aligned with Hulk Hogan before turning heel during the 1992 Royal Rumble. Eudy lost to Hogan via disqualification during the co-main event of WrestleMania VIII three months later.
His second stint with WCW in 1993 came to an abrupt end following an altercation with fellow wrestler Arn Anderson.
He rejoined WWE in 1995 as the bodyguard for Shawn Michaels before turning against him. As Sycho Sid, he won the world title twice while also losing to the Undertaker in the main event of WrestleMania XIII.
Eudy returned to WCW for a third time in 1999 and captured their world heavyweight championship on two occasions as well.
He sustained a career-threatening injury during the Sin pay-per-view event on Jan. 14, 2001, when he broke his left leg after leaping from the second turnbuckle and landing awkwardly on the mat.
Eudy didn't wrestle again for three-and-a-half years and made sporadic appearances for independent promotions plus WWE during the remainder of his pro wrestling career.
He wrestled his final match for Great North Wrestling in Ottawa on Aug. 5, 2017, taking on Paul Rosenberg.
